Dermabrasion is the procedure to improve to look of facial skin that smoothens fine wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars and other surface irregularities.
This is accomplished through a controlled method of surgical scraping. An exfoliating technique that uses a rotating instrument to remove the outer layers of skin, usually on the face.
This is accomplished through a controlled method of surgical scraping. During a dermabrasion procedure, the top layer of skin is manually exfoliated using a rotating brush or instrument, and then a chemical peel solution is applied to promote cellular turnover. The skin eventually peels, leaving a second layer that is healthy, clear and rejuvenated. This procedure results in a smoother complexion.
Following the procedure, the face will be red and swollen and it is common for scabbing and crusting to occur over the areas that were treated. It is imperative that patients avoid sun exposure to protect the new layer of skin. The skin will look soft and smooth with a visible decrease in irregularities.
This procedure will be done either general or with IV sedation.
